Publication Ethics

NURTURA: Journal of Learning and Educational Innovation is firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal adheres to the principles and best practice guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). All participants in the publishing process—authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to act with honesty, transparency, and accountability to safeguard the integrity of scholarly communication.

1. Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring fair, objective, and confidential evaluation of all submitted manuscripts.

  • Fair Play: Decisions are made solely based on the manuscript’s academic merit, original contribution, relevance to the journal’s scope, and methodological rigor, without regard to the author's race, gender, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all submitted material and may not use unpublished content for their own research without explicit written permission from the author.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have competing financial, personal, or collaborative interests.
  • Ethical Investigations: Editors will respond promptly to ethical concerns or misconduct claims using standard COPE flowcharts and guidelines to ensure due process.
2. Duties of Authors

Authors must maintain high ethical standards in conducting and reporting their research.

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Works submitted must be entirely original. Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and redundant or duplicate publication are strictly prohibited.
  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of all external works, literature, and foundational ideas must be explicitly cited.
  • Authorship Attributon: Authorship must be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conceptualization, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must approve the final version.
  • Disclosure: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that might influence the findings.
  • Human Subjects & Ethical Approval: Studies involving human participants, field surveys, or ethnographic data must ensure appropriate ethical clearance and informed consent prior to publication.
3. Duties of Reviewers

Peer reviewers support the editorial decision-making process and assist authors in improving manuscript quality.

  • Objectivity & Promptness: Reviews must be conducted objectively, constructively, and completed within the agreed timeframe. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review are confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with third parties.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline evaluation of manuscripts in which conflicts of interest exist (financial, competitive, or collaborative).
  • Reporting Misconduct: Reviewers should alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published work.
4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

Coreciv Publisher (North Sumatra, Indonesia) is dedicated to supporting the editorial board in safeguarding publication standards.

  • Editorial Independence: The publisher guarantees that editorial decisions remain independent of commercial or political influences.
  • Publishing Integrity: In cases of proven scientific misconduct, plagiarism, or data manipulation, the publisher will collaborate with editors to issue corrections, retractions, or formal statements of concern as dictated by COPE standards.
  • Academic Freedom: The publisher fosters academic integrity, transparency, and inclusivity throughout the publication process.
5. Allegations of Misconduct

If allegations of ethical misconduct (such as plagiarism, citation manipulation, data fabrication, or authorship disputes) arise, the journal initiates a transparent investigation guided by COPE flowcharts. Authors are granted an opportunity to respond to all claims. Proven breaches will result in appropriate sanctions, including manuscript rejection, formal retraction, or notification to affiliated institutions.

6. Research Ethics and Data Integrity

Authors are responsible for the ethical treatment of research subjects. For studies involving human participants (e.g., surveys, interviews), authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained and anonymity preserved. Authors are encouraged to make raw research data available upon reasonable request for scientific verification.

7. Open Access and Copyright Policy

NURTURA is an open-access journal providing immediate, free access to its content to support global knowledge sharing. Authors retain copyright to their work and grant the journal first publication rights under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This permits non-commercial sharing, adaptation, and redistribution provided appropriate credit is given to the original source.
